When GymEvo is a useful Strong alternative

GymEvo is worth trying if you want free workout planning, progression tracking, and calorie tracking in one app. Premium is optional. Log unlimited workouts, compare previous sets, and use free multi-week periodization, food logging, and bodyweight tracking. If you want automated planning and targets, Premium adds an AI training plan generator and automatic progression.

We publish GymEvo. This page compares documented features, not hands-on gym experience with every app, apart from one clearly labeled personal impression of Boostcamp's interface. Product details and published US-dollar prices were checked on 7 September 2026; local store offers can differ.

What Strong's free tier and PRO include

Strong's free app records unlimited workouts and allows three custom routines. PRO expands templates and adds charts and training calculators. Automatic load recommendations are not listed in its reviewed feature pages. That makes progression guidance a reason to compare alternatives, though you can also use a manual progression rule. When to stay with Strong

A familiar logger and years of useful history are a good reason to stay put. Strong supports CSV export and says workout data remains accessible without PRO. Before switching, export your history and check the destination app's import support. An export file does not guarantee a compatible import.

GymEvo: generate a plan or keep your routine

You can follow a free library program or keep your existing workouts without Premium. Free planning, previous-set history, RPE logging, and rest timers support your regular training. If you prefer an AI-generated starting plan, optional Premium creates one from your experience, equipment, goals, and preferences. Progression settings live on the exercises inside your plan. A compound lift can use a different rep range and weight increment from an accessory. Premium generates targets from previous performance, with an optional pre-workout energy check.

The free tier includes two custom splits, two exercise goals, and unlimited logging. A split is a schedule containing workouts, so that allowance is not equivalent to Strong's three routines. Free periodization includes prebuilt example cycles and reusable custom multi-week schemas.

You can also log calories, macros, and bodyweight in GymEvo. Premium adds full progress charts, weekly and monthly reviews, warm-up tools, and more. At the listed $6.99 monthly or $44.99 annually, the upgrade covers a broader workflow than workout logging alone. US pricing. See what GymEvo's free tier includes and when Premium is worth it.

Hevy's published subscription price is below Strong's listed $29.99/year. It also advertises lifetime access at $74.99, while Strong's US listing contains PRO Forever purchases too. Compare the offers available in your own app rather than assuming lifetime access requires switching.

Boostcamp advertises automatic load progression with its free training offering. Its library includes free coach programs, while Pro adds exclusive programs and advanced analytics. It supports creating your own programs as well as following someone else's. We tried the app and found its interface cluttered and unintuitive, which is a personal impression rather than a documented limitation. Boostcamp features, plan details.

Jefit describes increases, holds, and deloads, but its public pricing page does not clearly map the engine to a tier. Confirm access in-app. Fitbod supports saved workouts with updated sets, reps, and weights, so generated programming can still retain a familiar exercise template.

Above this price bracket sit Mesostrength, RP Hypertrophy, and JuggernautAI, which plan a full mesocycle rather than a session. Our progressive overload apps compared roundup puts all of them beside Strong on progression logic, free tier, and price.

Choose around the feature you need

Try GymEvo for free workout and calorie tracking tools you can keep using without subscribing, with optional Premium AI plans and automatic progression. Try Hevy for lower-priced Trainer programming, or Boostcamp for its free program offering. Alpha Progression, Jefit, and Fitbod are worth comparing when their specific planning features appeal to you.

Keep Strong if its logging workflow and your existing history already serve you well. Choosing your own loads is also possible in GymEvo with auto-progression disabled, so manual control alone is not a reason to prefer Strong. A move should solve a problem you actually have.
